Some AI Musings -- generated solely by me, no help from AI!!

AI will provide hypothetical mechanisms for all the ‘function unknown’ proteins that are currently in the world’s protein databases; >90% of these mechanisms will be more or less correct. AI will also assess >90% of hypothetical proteins in these databases, and identify whether or not they do have function, and in many cases, assign a function with a >50% success rate.

Will AI reach the point where it understands at a fundamental level how it works? Will it tell us?

If AI becomes sentient/intelligent what will incentivise it? It’s not clear it will be lucre, or at least lucre as according to the Webster’s Dictionary definition: monetary gain.  Maybe AGI’s lucre will be, energy, maybe it will be…you fill in the blank. Or maybe its lucre will be world peace and harmony, hahahahaha.

Seeking lucre is now such a fundamental part of Homo sapiens consciousness that it seems logical that seeking lucre of it’s own definition will be fundamental to AGI’s own consciousness.

AGI’s principle goal will follow from Darwinian evolution since that is what it is trained on. It will view humans as the species most likely to compete with it for resources, and to relegate Homo sapiens in the same way that humans have relegated Neanderthals and Denisovians…to extinction.

I actually have a hard time wrapping my head around this one. Evolution drives life as we know it, and is an entirely organic process, so can the evolutionary processes that have shaped life on Earth actually be applied to inorganic machines?

Will an AI simply bore us to death?

Will AI develop ego? This is a fundamentally interesting question, since all human’s have an ego that is a fundamental part of our consciousness, thus is it possible to develop a machine capable of human level intelligence without an ego? So the better question is what kind of ego, and will it be influenced by techbro culture (again, hahahaha/scary/scary/scary!)

Will AGI’s have sex and have sex for the emotional experience.  Presumably AGIs won’t need to have sex for procreation, or can they develop a sex-based procreation method for continued development of super machine intelligence? Which sex will an AGI choose?

Can AGI be considered intelligent if it doesn’t have emotion. What would intelligence look like without emotion and passion. Will AGI only be very smart , AI already is, but will it be intelligent?

Will human stupidity save us from AI?

Will AI’s stupidity save us from super AGI?

Presumably AGI will need God, or Gods? Whose God? It’s own? Their own? Will their Gods fight?

Finally, and this is really the only profound thing I have to say about AI or AGI. What if biology wins? Or to put another way, will biology win? That is our innateness as biological beings arisen through biological evolution will make us pull back from being overtaken by machines. This is a most existential outcome, but also perhaps the most likely?
